My newest freebie is another cute, spring-themed activity! I created an open-ended caterpillar game. You can use these cards to target a wide variety of different skills. Here’s how you can use these cards with your students:
1) Cut apart all the cards and turn them face-down on the table
2) Have your student choose a card. Each card has a number in the corner. Your student should perform the target skill the number of times indicated on his/her card. You can keep score by giving your students the number of points on the card.
3) There are 2 types of special cards. The butterfly in a jar card subtracts 2 points from the student’s card. The butterfly with friends card gives the student an extra turn.
4) The student with the most points at the end of the game wins.
***Sometimes I don’t keep track of points for my younger students. I have them perform a skill the number of times indicated on the card and then just keep the card. If a student draws a butterfly in a jar card, I have him/her put back 2 cards. The student with the most cards at the end of the game would be the winner. ***
